Recently, the climate has gradually warmed up. Although it is still unstable, sometimes cold and sometimes hot, it is still spring. The slopes are covered in lush green, and in winter, sheep who have been eating dry food for a long time can finally eat fresh and tender grass. As a sheep keeper, it is necessary to control the consumption of grass by sheep and avoid acute bloating caused by excessive consumption.

Cause of onset

1. Feed issues. When feed, especially concentrate, contains too many substances that are easily fermented by rumen microorganisms to produce gas, such as soybeans, it can cause bloating.

2. Sheep eating grass with dew or grass on rainy days is not a problem, but eating too much can easily cause bloating.

3. If captive sheep eat too much silage, it can also cause this disease.

Solution measures

1、 If you notice acute bloating in the sheep, you can quickly find a willow stick to stuff into the sheep's mouth, tie it to the sheep's head with a rope at both ends, and let the sheep chew. At the same time, massage the left rib of the affected sheep to help them expel air.

2、 If conditions permit, fresh 10-20g of plant ash can also be added with 50-100ml of vegetable oil for treatment.

3、 If the condition is mild, sheep can also be given laxatives and anti fermentation drugs by gavage to expel the food trapped in the rumen, and the bloating in the rumen can be eliminated.

4、 If neither of the above methods is effective or if the above methods are not feasible for the affected sheep, a veterinarian should be consulted for perforation and deflation. This plan is generally used when the condition is severe or there are no other treatment methods available.
