Measures

1. Pregnant sows: In theory, pregnant sows now require 9-18 liters of water. How about using a nipple water dispenser? Is it still bowl style? If using nipples, what is the flow rate? What is the height? This is all that we frontline pig farmers need to know and experiment with.

Taking a nipple water dispenser as an example, it is generally used at 2.0L/min, which is 2 liters per minute. How to measure it? Get a 2-liter cola bottle and put it on the sow's spout to see if it can be filled in one minute. If it's full, then it's okay. If it doesn't work, then quickly adjust. The height is generally 610-760mm. Pigs don't need to tilt their heads too much, as long as they can drink it. The use of a water level gauge is now quite popular and saves water.

2. Lactating sows: lactating sows have a water intake of over 40 liters because only by drinking more water can they eat more food. The more they eat, the more water they need to produce more milk. The flow rate is also 2.0L/min, and the height is 610-760mm, but we added a water nozzle at 350mm. You will find that your sow's feed intake will further increase, that is, there will be two nipple water dispensers on one litter bed to provide sufficient drinking water for the sow, whether it is drinking up or lying down.
