For those who want to enter the animal husbandry industry, raising sheep is a good choice. Sheep have fewer illnesses, a relatively short growth cycle, and do not require too much investment, so the entry threshold is not too high. However, for beginners, it is generally concerned about what issues to pay attention to when raising sheep.

1、 Grazing time

Grazing time should be chosen as cool as possible, with early departure and early return in the morning, and late departure and late return in the afternoon. When there is a lot of dew, the grazing time should be slightly later. Be careful not to let the sheep eat dew grass, as eating it can easily cause bloating in the sheep.

2、 Heatstroke prevention and cooling

In summer, we should do a good job in preventing heatstroke and cooling down, and choose shaded areas for grazing to prevent heatstroke. Simultaneously adopting shearing and strengthening ventilation to facilitate heat dissipation on the sheep's body surface.

3、 Environmental hygiene

The ground of the sheep shed and sheepfold should be dry, hygienic, and well ventilated. Sheep sheds and sports fields should be cleaned regularly and disinfected regularly.

4、 Adding water and salt

In summer with high temperatures, it is important to keep the sheep's drinking basin fresh and clean, and allow them to drink freely. At the same time, add 0.2 grams of salt per kilogram of sheep body weight to maintain the acid-base balance in the sheep's body.

5、 Insect control and epidemic prevention

In summer, ewes generally end their lambing, and avermectin can be used to drive out internal nematodes and external parasites such as lice, mites, ticks, and fly larvae. According to the immunization program, vaccinations against sheep's four diseases, foot-and-mouth disease, and sheep pox should be administered. And always pay attention to the mental state, appetite, and fecal condition of the sheep. When an infectious disease or suspected infectious disease occurs, immediate isolation should be carried out, and veterinarians should be promptly sought for observation and treatment. The bodies of dead sheep should be buried deep or burned.
